Painting of a Front Door: Transform your Curb Appeal
Read on to see photos of the door painting steps and find out the color I picked…
Step #2: Choose the color.
I wanted a color that would go well with the original brick color and with the current shutter color. I tried shades of green and purple. I ended up with Deep Maroon (SW 0072) because it felt subtle yet brought color to the house. It matched well with the brick and complemented the brown in the shutters.
The smallest amount you can buy of this type of paint is a quart. Since we only painted one side of the door we used about a third of a quart and that’s with two coats of paint on the front. Be prepared to have extra paint or better yet, paint more doors. Be sure to keep some available for touch-ups.
