Grab a Coffee, Let’s Chat

Cherry Tree in Bloom

What are you looking forward to most this weekend? We are hanging at home mostly. I am excited about slow dinners and lots of time outside.

As a family, on Friday evenings we have been watching The Walton’s. It’s a great show to watch together, we all enjoy it plus good conversations and questions stem from the content.

I saw The Upside at the movies and really liked it. Based on a true story of a quadriplegic, it was inspiring and motivational by helping me gain perspective on how much we need others and reminded me how anyone’s dreams are possible. Have you seen any good movies recently?

Several years back I added two books to help with my prayer life. The first is The Power of a Praying Wife and the other is The Power of a Praying Parent. You can buy the Book of Prayers or just flip back to the prayer portion at the end of each chapter. I’m all about praying out of your heart but I find these books really get at what I would pray anyway and are more thorough. I find it very detailed and covers so many issues and topics. I struggle with anxiety at times and I find when I am praying for my husband and my kids I have less anxiety.

I’ve been a big holdout but I did Wal-Mart pick up for the first time. It’s totally free. First I downloaded the Wal-mart grocery app then placed my order online (must be the day before) and then I pulled into the designated parking spot Voilà! my groceries were brought out to my car. So seamless and simple, I loved it. My produce looked beautiful, they found everything on my order, and I saved so much time. It was a dream. Have you tried it? Did you have a good experience?

Have you guys heard of Carrot Top Paper Shop? My friend Jenny started it and if you love Anne of Green Gables you are going to love her shop. So many beautiful creations of literary-inspired artwork and prints. The tag line of her shop is “Be the heroine of your life.” How lovely is that? A great place to shop for gifts, too. Check it out.

Has anyone tried dry brushing their skin before a shower? I bought a dry brush recently. It’s a way to exfoliate your skin and may reduce cellulite (I’m skeptical about that one). I like it as long as I remember to do it before hopping in the shower.

We recently discovered Animal Workout on Alexa. Nice way for the kids to get wiggles out before bedtime. Go ahead try it, stretch your neck like a giraffe!

New recipe alert — I made Change Your Life Chicken and I’m a fan. Be sure to listen to The Lazy Genius as she walks you through the details step by step.

I love Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. I have been using it for 12+ years. Recently, a friend told me about their tinted lip balm. I tried the Red Dahlia color. It gives your lips color but not so pigmented and heavy like lipstick more like watercolor for your lips. It’s not cakey but smooth and light similar to the way the original feels on my lips.

I’ll leave you with this quote from the book Where the Crawdads Sing. Anyone else read it? This is Ma talking to her daughters after their boat got stuck:

“Y’all listen now this is a real lesson in life. Yes, we got stuck but what did we girls do? We made it fun, we laughed that’s what sisters and girlfriends are all about sticking together in the mud, especially in the mud.”

– Where the Crawdads Sing

If you purchase from a link on this blog a small percentage of the sale may come back to me. You are never charged more for the product. It’s a way to keep this site going and I’m very selective about the things I list. It’s mostly things we already own and love or things I think you would enjoy. Thank you for reading!
