I can’t remember if it was in high school or college, but an older lady at my church gave me a sheet titled, The Names of God. It was on a simple sheet of white paper and looked like it was typed on an old typewriter. I used the sheet for many years during my quiet time with God. At some point, I filed it away and forgot about it.
Are you wanting to connect more with your child? Sure you try to have conversations but you are longing for more connection. Try a parent and child question journal. We’ve found this to be especially helpful for our more reserved child as a way to find out more about what’s on his mind.
Our church recently had a Renewal Conference where we focused on prayer for 20 days. We studied the Lord’s prayer and were encouraged to listen to a short podcast daily on a breakdown of the Lord’s prayer. I also read Reset: 20 Ways to a Consistent Prayer Life. It was a very focused time and beneficial.
I don’t know about you but this past year with COVID-19 things have shifted for us. The weight of everything is more than we can handle. Brent and I are spending more time together and we’ve started praying once a week together. We’re not perfect but we try and it’s making a huge difference. So many people around us (including us) are in need of encouragement and prayer. Prayer is a weapon. Prayer is effective. Prayer matters.
