A Summer Chat with my Shades On

I’m finally getting into the summer groove. We spent a morning this week at a city pool and it was just what I needed. Sunshine, cool water, my kids laughing and splashing while I connected with the other moms. What a gift it is to be able to hang out with friends.

Aren’t These Everyday Dish Towels So Cute?

Something that makes me smile is seeing a pretty dish towel hanging in my kitchen. Once we had our after-dinner clean-up routine down, one of the things I started to do is change out the kitchen dish towel and washcloth every night. This makes all the difference. I got the idea from The Fly Lady. It feels so good to wake up in the morning and walk into a crisp kitchen, an empty sink that is shining, and a fresh dish towel just waiting to be used.

Even with Dashed Expectations a Weekend in Monteagle, Tennessee Still Delivers

You know how you can get your hopes all up for a vacation, even daydreaming about specific details like the feelings you’ll have? Like when all your family members are sitting in the living room of your cabin sipping hot chocolate and laughing while the fire burns softly in the background and everyone is happily putting together a puzzle. Then when you actually arrive in the cabin you can’t figure out how to use the fireplace, your kids are not into puzzles and you forgot the hot chocolate. Reality can sometimes steal our joy if we’ve set up expectations in our minds for an ideal scenario.
