An End of August Chat

Tropical Dogwood, pale pink flower with tiny yellow flower in center
I believe this is a tropical dogwood. Permission to share photo granted by Biltmore Estate.

How are you? I’m doing pretty good. I’ve missed you but thoroughly enjoyed my break from social media this summer. I’m so glad I did it. In other news, school has started and we are back to a full weekly schedule. I can’t wait to watch Rudy and prep for football season. The days have been a slight bit cooler here in Nashville but it’s still very apparent that it’s summer.

Who’s been thinking about their Halloween Costumes? I have a Pinterest board full of creative ideas, most of them are DIY. The little Starbucks Frappuccino is adorable!

Brent, my husband, introduced me to Morning Brew, an enjoyable way to read the news. Such a good thing to read before a dinner party!

Do your kids hate taking medicine? It’s such a struggle in our house. This made me laugh.

Update on my cut flower garden: A few Zinnias came up and pretty much everything else failed.

I’m into this nail polish color lately.

Dean lost his first tooth. What is the going rate these days? We gave him a dollar.

Grant read and really liked The Mysterious Benedict Society. The show on Disney+ is so interesting. It hooked me just based on the visual creativity with the set, colors, wardrobe – I love it.

I’ve been reading Disciple Her. It’s one of the best books I’ve found on discipleship.

My car died so we’ve been shopping for a new used car. Any tips? Do you have an online site you especially like for car shopping?

When we lived in L.A. we loved eating at Zankou Chicken. I made this copycat chicken marinade the other day, it may get added to our weeknight dinner rotation!

I think I found a show Brent will watch with me. DIY gardening is our cup of tea.

Guys, I’ve been going to a spin class. I’ve always been so intimidated but I now look forward to it. I’m so glad I started. Sometimes we have to do things that scare us.

Send me an update on your life, I’d love to hear.

Spin class! Very exciting. We are definitely making time to go over Thanksgiving then. This is the 2nd time today I have heard about that book. Putting it on hold at the library and will be checking it out on Disney +. Have you seen HomeGrown on Discovery +? It’s similar to what you are describing. I enjoyed it.

Yes, let’s do it. A spin class in Brooklyn, I hope I can hang. Ha! I hope you guys like The Benedict Society. Grant read all 5 of them and really liked them. I watched the trailer for HomeGrown — looks awesome! Thanks for mentioning it.
