3 Most Used and Most Loved Small Household Appliances

It’s so helpful to find machines that make life easier. I feel like we are living in such a cool period of time when our blenders can turn almost anything into a smoothie and no longer have to push a vacuum around our living room. Does this feel like “The Jetsons” to anyone else? Here are a few small appliances that we especially love and use daily.

Commercial Grade Blender

We own the Blendtec Wildside Classic Blender (Wildside+). The reason we went with Blendtec instead of Vitamix is because when I worked at Peet’s Coffee we used a Blendtec daily to make the frozen beverages. I loved it and was hooked.

This is not your ordinary blender. It’ll grind up nuts, a whole apple (cut), and even a rake handle!

Not only will it make smoothies, juices, milkshakes, and sauces, it can also make bread dough and hot soups. This video is super interesting and tells about things you didn’t realize this blender could do. I’ve even made sorbet in ours!

The downside is that the blender is loud. So don’t plan to run it while someone is sleeping. One last video just because.

The Total Blender Classic also has really good reviews. If you are wanting a high-powered blender, but the ones I mentioned are over your budget consider buying a refurbished one from blendtec.com.

A Good Iron Makes Any Morning Better

It’s so nice to own a quality iron–just ask my husband who irons his clothes almost every morning. For years we had a fairly inexpensive bottom of the line iron. It was fine but once you use a heavier, better quality iron there is no turning back.

We now use this Rowenta iron. I’m happy with the one we chose although some reviews say it doesn’t get as hot as they would like, we’ve not found this to be the case. As another option, this iron has good reviews but is a higher price point.

Tap water can be used to fill it although I fill ours with distilled water. I also have the Rowenta Hot Iron Cleaner which works wonders when gunk gets stuck on the soleplate. By the way, would you ever pay more to have the retractable cord? It does seem handy.

Robotic Vacuum

Game changer y’all! We have the Shark Robotic Vacuum Cleaner. This was gifted to us and we love it. It has a spot clean option when you have a crumb mess or have just thrown in the air from your confetti drawer. This vacuum does a good job picking up my long coarse hair and isn’t too difficult to clean since the roller area comes apart. We don’t have any pets so I can’t speak to pet hair removal.

We love our Shark Robot so much we named him ‘Bumper’ since he’s always bumping into things. We also sometimes call him our third kid and joke around about changing his diaper (AKA: emptying the removable dust bin). One of Dean’s chores is to pick up around the house, mostly put all the shoes away and make sure no blankets are on the floor then turn on Bumper.

I can’t tell you how nice it is to come home to vacuum lines in the carpet that I had nothing to do with! Dust bunnies and dirt magically disappear from sight with this amazing invention. There are times we come home and have to hunt to find Bumper. We tell our kids to go find their ‘brother.’ It either gets stuck under the bed or swallows too many lego pieces.

The hunt usually adds some fun to our home. I secretly think it’s preparing us for a puppy (no current plans) in how we find random items that have been sucked up or items out of place that we just know Bumper has been playing with.

It does get finicky if it becomes too dusty or clogged up with hair and Brent has had to take it apart a few times to get it working. But otherwise, I’d highly recommend adding a robot vacuum to your home.

Bonus: Podcast about Large Appliances

By the way, I recently listened to a very informative podcast on large appliances that I think would be worth a listen. It’s an interview with an appliance repair guy. There’s a washer and dryer episode and a kitchen appliance episode. So many good tips about general maintenance and care. I learned things I didn’t know before. The podcast hosts are some of my friends here in Nashville. Take a listen!

What small household appliances do you love and use daily? Please share. I’m always interested in learning what other people use.

If you purchase from a link on this blog a small percentage of the sale may come back to me. You are never charged more for the product. It’s a way to keep this site going and I’m very selective about the things I list. It’s mostly things we already own and love or things I think you would enjoy. Thank you for reading!
